Jarvis in Burnaby

I saw Jarvis in Burnaby back in July -- (look how close I was? None more closer) here are photos for all to enjoy. It was a busy weekend, I ferried to the mainland on Sunday to catch J's set at Virgin Fest, rushing back the next morning to perform a scene from The Dining Room (Theatre Appreciation: nonpareil GPA booster), all the while studying for a Medieval History exam (that I did just fine in).

Some dude yelled out "Help the Aged" after Jarvis took the mic. His response:
"That would be great, except we're not doing that one." Full-stop. Chances the potentially heart-stopping episode of him singing "Pink Glove" to me (I had forewarned the station MD about this, lest an obit be needed) was not going to happen. So I had to just dig the new album (which is very good). "Angela" is actually a fantastic rocker, and "You're In My Eyes (Discosong)" ranks up there with some of the best Pulp. Sorta.

"I'm skilled at climbing in heels." And he proved it. This was during "I Never Said I Was Deep". Some bitch standing close-by asked her fella "Is he always this funny?!"

So I had a good time, and can cross off "See Jarvis" from the proverbial "Things-To-Do-Before-I-Become-Uninteresting" list. Post-script: when I was checking out of the hotel the next morning I saw some luggage labeled "Jarvis Cocker," and I saw his roadies lying about. So instead of waiting around for the Fop proper I (lolz) told the roadies they "were great yesterday" and taxied the fuck out of there. I didn't want to come across as slavish/ingratiating/a child. Alas, I'm only a psychotic fan in actuality, not in practice.

Oh, and I couldn't help but thinking his bassist looked familiar, 'til I came home and looked at His 'n' Hers...

Steve Mackey! So, depending on how you calculate it, I saw somewhere between 2/5 to 2/27 of Pulp.
